Some of the motivations are confusing but this does have the Ghibli inventiveness. I'm not sure why Pazu was let go especially since he seems to be a great way to control Sheeta. The pirates are shooting up everybody to get the crystal in the beginning and I don't understand why they switch sides. I'm not sure why Dola joins Pazu to help Sheeta. I'm not sure that every motivation makes sense. With pirates and government agents after her, they have to rediscover the power of her crystal and the lost Castle in the Sky. His late father found it once but was ridiculed for it. He is obsessed with finding the lost floating city of Laputa. Pazu and his community struggles to make a living in the mine. The girl, Sheeta, was chased by pirates, army and government secret agents. The film has amazing animation, a unique style and is very engaging. A young boy stumbles into a mysterious girl who floats down from the sky. And, of course, our intrepid heroes are bent on finding it and unlocking its secrets. Well, in this world of sky pirates and bizarre flying machines comes the rumor of a floating castle in the sky. For fans of airplanes and vintage aviation, this is an especially appealing film. Strange but also pretty intriguing-that's for sure. Like KIKI, the action takes place on some Earth-like world-so much like Earth but different because it had the weirdest flying machines and sky pirates! It was also rather reminiscent of the Dreamcast video game, The Skies of Arcadia. This is a really interesting movie that bears some resemblance to another great Miyazaki film, KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE.
